OPPORTUNITIES FOR MEMBERS

#LoveVancouver Relaunch

In anticipation of re-launching #LoveVancouver next week, we would like to remind our attraction, event, hotel, and restaurant members to ensure their member listings are up-to-date, and that we are made aware of any current, new, or upcoming special offers that we can highlight on the various pages of the microsite.

In celebration of National Tourism Week, and pending an easing of current circuit-breaker restrictions after the Victoria Day long weekend, digital, radio, social, TV and multicultural media will begin profiling our #LoveVancouver promotion, including the new #LoveToExplore program. BUSINESS RESOURCES

BSAFE Partner Toolkit

BSAFE is a new, online COVID-19 health and safety training program launched by go2HR with support from the Ministry of Tourism, Arts, Culture, and Sport. This training tool is a direct result of the Tourism Task Force’s recommendation to the government that was delivered in their report in December 2020.
Rebuilding confidence in the tourism and hospitality industry is critical to rebuilding our sectors as we emerge from the pandemic. BSAFE is designed to ensure foundational health and safety knowledge in BC’s tourism and hospitality businesses to keep everyone — workers, guests, and communities — safe as we move through the COVID-19 pandemic.
BSAFE stands for BC Safety Assured For Everyone
The course is designed for both front-line staff and managers/supervisors. The curriculum is delivered online, in 90 minutes, and upon completion, a certificate will be awarded.
The BSAFE registration portal is now open to employers who are interested in registering for the course.

Metro Vancouver Clean Air Plan Engagement

Metro Vancouver values public input to develop a plan that reflects diverse voices. A draft Clean Air Plan was developed in 2020 and 2021 with input from stakeholders across the region. Some of the actions will be implemented by Metro Vancouver, and some actions are the responsibility of others, or require collaboration. But they all work together to achieve the same regional goals.

Do you support the direction of the Clean Air Plan? Do you like, or have concerns about, specific actions? Does it align with other work you know of or are involved in? Do you have thoughts on implementation or collaboration to meet the 2030 targets in this region?

The draft Clean Air Plan is available for comment from April 1 through June 15, 2021.

Council renews Drinking in Public Plazas Pilot for the summer season

Vancouver City Council voted to renew the City’s Drinking in Public Plazas Pilot and confirmed the location of three sites where Vancouverites will be able to eat, rest, and responsibly enjoy an alcoholic beverage this summer season.

Drinking in Public Plazas Pilot locations for 2021 will start to be activated on May 31st in the following locations:

  • Cambie and 17th
  • 800 Robson
  • Fraser and 27th

All participating public plazas will have access to automated public toilets or temporary portable washrooms and be in place until October 11, 2021.

The continuation of this pilot for a second year is a valuable opportunity for staff to further study these spaces, seek feedback from plazas users, and provide continued support to local businesses and communities, particularly in light of the PHO restrictions on indoor dining.

Council also approved an extension of operating hours for an existing parklet at 111 Princess Avenue which supports the Drinker’s Lounge Community Managed Alcohol Program. The parklet, which provides people in the area with a safe place to gather, eat, access to cultural programs, services, and connections to support, will now operate from 9:30 am to 4:30 pm seven days a week until December 31, 2021.
