Canada Attractions Pass

The Canada Attractions Pass is a new membership-based APP that promotes one-time use offers to users and they are seeking out quality hotels, experiences and attractions to partner with. The team at CAP has already secured national sales distribution channels for the APP through Costco, AMA, Airmiles, and TravelZoo. As well, it will be promoted to a private database of 40,000 and corporate social clubs. They plan to launch the Canada Attractions Pass to Western Canada in late spring.
The program offers a FREE, NO FEE national marketing opportunity. There is no middleman, you are in control of your offers, it works with your own booking/ticketing system, the customer deals directly with your organization and you keep all of your own revenues.
If you feel this is an appropriate marketing tool for your business and you’d like to learn more about the Canada Attractions Pass and its many benefits please refer to the information brochure. LGBT+ Inclusion Training for the Tourism Industry (Limited Time Offer)

February 25, 2021 | 12:00pm - 4:00pm | Virtual
March 10, 2021 | 12:00pm - 4:00pm | Virtual
Time is running out to access our LGBT+ diversity and inclusion training programs for free. Thanks to funding provided by the Government of Canada, Tourism HR Canada and the Canadian LGBT+ Chamber of Commerce are helping tourism businesses foster inclusion and develop LGBT+ safe spaces across the country.
Be sure to sign up and participate in a workshop before March 31, 2021.
You’ve heard it before: change comes from within. Before you invite LGBT+ travellers to your destination in droves, make sure your workplace is an inclusive environment for LGBT+ employees and customers. Remember that people aren’t always “out” or visible and that you may not have representation on your staff or in your client base for a reason.
Join a Navigating LGBT+ Diversity and Inclusion in the Tourism Industry workshop facilitated by CGLCC and funded by the Government of Canada in your region to learn the basics of an LGBT+-inclusive vocabulary, space, and workplace.
Included in the workshop is a self-paced online course to first get you up to speed on the many different LGBT+ communities. Once you attend the workshop, you’ll leave with a certificate acknowledging your participation and action items to transform your workplace into an LGBT+ safe space.

Applications open March 1st for summer temporary patios on public property

With warmer weather and patio season on the horizon, businesses can apply for a temporary patio on public property starting March 1. The Temporary Expedited Patio Program is part of the City’s on-going support of local businesses during the COVID-19 pandemic.
Temporary patios on public property include patios on sidewalks and curb lanes next to local businesses. Summer season permits for patios on public property run from April 1 to October 31, 2021.
The City’s top priority is the health and safety of our residents. City staff will be working to ensure that the Temporary Expedited Patio program continues to support businesses recovery efforts and balances our responsibility to keep pedestrians and patio-goers healthy and safe and maintain accessibility in public spaces.
City staff will be working with businesses to ensure that temporary patios do not:
- Restrict accessibility or reduce space for physical distancing on the sidewalk.
- Encroach too far onto the street, which may negatively impact other road users or interrupt City street cleaning, utility or construction work.
- Reduce the open-air aspect of the patio with additional structures or enclosures (COVID-19 transmission concern).
- Block access to critical utilities such as fire department connections.

INDUSTRY NEWS

Lyft is partnering with Toyota Canada to make zero-emission vehicles accessible to eligible drivers in Metro Vancouver.

Your next ride in Metro Vancouver might be a little quieter; already one in five Lyft vehicles are zero-emission or hybrid. Now, Lyft and Toyota Canada are teaming up in Metro Vancouver to make the Toyota Mirai — a hydrogen-powered, zero-emission vehicle (ZEV) — accessible to drivers on the Lyft platform.
Lyft recognizes that transportation is the second-largest source of greenhouse gas emissions in the country and in June 2020 made a commitment to reach 100% electric vehicles by 2030. The Toyota Mirai as a hydrogen-powered fuel cell electric vehicle only emits water from the tailpipe which helps to improve local air quality and eliminates CO2 emissions from rides.
"Vancouver is known globally as a leader in sustainability, as well as for its natural beauty. These were two of the main reasons I moved here to raise my family years ago, so I'm proud that through this partnership, I can help contribute to an even cleaner future for our children."
Peter Lukomoskyi is an approved Lyft driver... in addition to being Lyft’s General Manager in BC, and a Tourism Vancouver Board Member.
