As we've shifted into our recovery phase, we felt it time to shift gears and communicate with members in a fresh way.  Our new weekly Member Enews now merges our previous weekly Covid-19 Advisory with our monthly Enews into one convenient document. 

We trust this will continue to provide you, our members, with up-to-date information on our industry, news on new and revised Government programs and opportunities for your business.

CANADA COVID-19 UPDATE AND GOVERNMENT RESPONSE

  • The federal government announced it will extend the Canada Emergency Wage Subsidy (CEWS) until December.

  • Canadian and U.S. officials have announced their decision to keep the border between the two countries closed to non-essential travel until at least August 21st.

  • Destination BC has built an easy-access dashboard to monitor what’s happening in each core geographic markets, which will be used to inform their approach to recovery and resilience marketing activities.

OPPORTUNITIES FOR MEMBERS

CALL FOR STORIES

Destination Canada is collecting stories of how businesses adapting to the required health and safety requirements with smart strategies and innovations to keep guests safe, while not compromising on the experiences. Destination Canada will be using these stories of creativity in media relations outreach.

Examples include how some resorts such as Sun Peaks are adapting summer mountain biking operations amidst health and safety requirement to use as a dress rehearsal for the upcoming ski season. Or how Authentik Canada is offering Canadians the opportunity to hit the road this summer by “recycling” an existing RV vacation package from European travellers who are no longer able to travel to Canada.  

Members are asked to submit their stories by July 17th, and should contain the following information:

  • Name and location of the tourism experience and/or business
  • One paragraph description
  • All URLs to websites or existing media coverage

POSTMEDIA LOCAL MARKETING GRANT PROGRAM

Postmedia and its local brands - Vancouver Sun and The Province - are accepting applications to its Local Marketing Grant Program. This grant is designed to help the local economy rebound by giving local businesses a leg up as they start to reopen.  Grants ranging from $500-$15,000 per month per client are available for the months of July and August 2020 to approved businesses, not–for–profit and charity organizations.

HOW TO WORK WITH YERVANA WEBINAR

COMMERCIAL NATURAL GAS HEAT PUMP PILOT PROGRAM

FortisBC are recruiting for participants for a Commercial Natural Gas Heat Pump Pilot Program. The technology is completely free to the selected participants. The heat pump will replace DHW heating and hot water heating /cooling systems.Members who might find this of interest are Hotels, Motels and other facilities with a domestic hot water load.

The ThermoLift heat pump is reported to offer efficiencies as high as 150 per cent, potentially reducing your space and water heating costs by 30 to 50 per cent. Applications are only being accepted until July 31, 2020
